"This year’s work uses colours, metallics, lustres and pure silver and pure gold on carved forms.
As
well as continuing my exploration of the bowl form, I expanded into
carving sculpture and jewelry and one of a kind self illuminating
vessels.
I
also began using ceramic stains, imported German china paint and
lustres to layer and bejewel the piece.
Each
work, inspired by a specific dream, is completely unique.
I
create each piece out of a special mix high fire porcelain.
Then
I carve it when it is leather dry and fire it.
I
fire it again for the glaze.
Then
another firing for the silver and gold.
Then
several more firings for the imported German metallics, brilliantly
coloured china paint using aqua blues, turquoise, golds and silver
with ruby, purples, roses, moss greens and cobalt.
